Donate and Receive a 2008 Arizona Tax Credit
Would you like to make a difference prior to the end of the year that’s painless and won’t cost you a dime? Goodwill of Central Arizona is one of Arizona’s oldest and largest nonprofits – helping those locally who need a “hand up.” In this downturned economic time, our services are in greater demand than ever before!
- During 2008, we will serve almost 19,000 individuals and place almost 4,000 into employment.
- In 2009, we plan to serve 20,000 and place 5,000 into employment.
Unfortunately, fewer donations are coming into our stores, and without the revenue from resold donations, we cannot continue to help those who need it most. Our commitment to individuals with disadvantaging conditions and barriers to employment (illiteracy, disabilities, economic) cannot be realized without funding and community support. The unique challenges facing the broader economy create uncertainty for our organization as we depend substantially on donated goods (85 percent) and government contracts (14 percent) for revenue.
You Can Help Without Spending A Dime!
The State of Arizona offers a TAX CREDIT to organizations that provide “Assistance to the Working Poor,” Goodwill’s primary commitment and mission. This little-known tax credit has not effectively been introduced to the communities we serve. Basically, this provision allows those that qualify to take a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, up to $400, for a donation of cash to Goodwill of Central Arizona. We believe our commitment to Put People To Work would benefit tremendously from awareness of this tax credit and allow us to provide more value to central Arizona’s communities.
If you will have a tax liability this year, you are able to make a contribution to Goodwill of Central Arizona to help offset the liability amount that would be paid to the State of Arizona. In order to take advantage of the Arizona Assistance to the Working Poor Tax Credit, an itemization of your deductions and charitable contributions on the Arizona state income tax return will be necessary to establish a baseline year and amount. Upon the establishment of the baseline year for charitable giving, an increase of your charitable giving over your baseline year amount must be maintained. The Arizona Charitable Tax Credit for organizations that serve the working poor is different from the tax credit you receive for supporting private school tuition and public school extracurricular activities. You are eligible to receive dollar-for-dollar tax credits for all three.
Please refer to this Contribution Form or click on the link at the bottom of this page. You can also make an Online Donation with your credit card.
